Cookies for a cause

We may be a small grass-roots family business, but we’re all about making a big difference.

Since March 2016, we have been proudly supporting Australian non-profit organisations through our Proud To Call Australia Home snack boxes, which have been a complimentary offering on selected Qantas domestic flights. With the support of Qantas, our delicious line of specially curated in-flight snack boxes with heart have helped us raise over $100,000.

“Through our on-going relationship with Qantas we discovered a shared vision for wanting to get behind great Australian initiatives. Charlie’s set about developing this exclusive program of philanthropic support via Qantas’ complimentary in-flight snack menu, which naturally taps into a huge captive audience. It’s a real win-win all round.” – Ken Mahlab, Managing Director – Charlie’s Cookies

The inaugural Proud To Call Australia Home snack box, highlighted the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation, Bangarra Dance Theatre. The subsequent menu cycles featured Ovarian Cancer Australia, Australian Prostate Cancer Research (APCR), Children’s Cancer Institute, Rekindling Youth Program and Career Trackers. The initiative raises over $15,000 for each organisation.

This menu cycle, via our exclusive Qantas contract, we are supporting the Yothu Yindi Foundation and Eat Up on both Qantas Domestic and QantasLink Flights.

The Yothu Yindi Foundation’s mission is for Yolngu and other Indigenous Australians to have the same level of wellbeing and life opportunities as non-Indigenous Australians. Through its leadership and education programs, and the staging of the annual Garma Festival, the Foundation has been supporting Indigenous cultural maintenance and economic development since 1990.

In short, Eat Up feeds hungry kids. Since 2013, they’ve delivered over 750,000 lunches to young Aussies who go to school each day without any lunch. They do it because they believe that without food, concentration is compromised. Which means learning is compromised. Which means a young person’s future is compromised. The largely volunteer-based organisation delivers thousands of lunches a month to schools around Australia.

If you are lucky enough to receive one of our in-flight snack boxes on Qantas, please share your experience by posting with #proudtocallaustraliahome @charliecookies
